Imagine Our Florida, Inc. has been dedicated to promoting the use of bear-resistant trash cans throughout the state.
In 2016 we helped guide many groups of advocates to contact their local Representatives in multiple counties to advocate for Bear Smart ordinances and bear-resistant trash cans. When Seminole county applied for bear-resistant trash can grants and asked for public input on how to best spend the funding, Imagine Our Florida submitted a proposal with a science-based plan that would most effectively use the allotted funding to benefit the health, safety and welfare of the largest number of bears and humans.
At events, Imagine Our Florida volunteers teach folks the importance of securing bear attractants and how bear-resistant trash cans will help with that effort.
